It’s Iceland baby! Yeah we know we are just trying to survive through the COVID 19 pandemic and we all have a lot of questions to ask on the restrictions places like Iceland have on visitors like us that cannot wait to get our feet into the cold and the waters Ice land has to offer. That’s what this piece is here to talk about anyway. So are you ready? Let’s do this!

Current Iceland Travel Restrictions

Before you can gain entry into Iceland

Before you can fully gain entry into Iceland you need to get quarantined and go through COVID-19 testing. For every passenger that’s getting into Iceland for the first time, you need to select fourteen days with which you would be quarantined. Either that or you go through Covid testing double-time alone with being quarantined for a week. Travelers that have had Covid 19 infections from the past that have met the criteria of the government, young kids, passengers that are on transit through Iceland are exempted from this restriction.

How do COVID tests occur?

The first test for Covid is done at the border after one arrives. The second test is done by the healthcare service a week later. In between these two tests, these arrivals have to go into quarantine. There are no two ways about that.

Restrictions on Traveling

If you’re from Europe

If you have your passports or a proper residency that’s valid, you don’t have any restrictions on entry. From EFTA/EU countries and the United Kingdom.

If you’re from Canada or the USA

Schengen external borders have been closed to places like Canada and the USA. We cannot let Canadians and US individuals with passports in. There are some special exceptions though for people with close family ties and for those that their traveling needs are quite essential.
